Mai Thai Coffee

Mai Thai coffee is organically grown fair trade coffee. Several years ago they were  while doing charity work in Thailand. While in some northern villages coffee Trees were found growing. They were planted some 40 years ago as opium substitutions. The villagers had no idea what to do with it. Turns out that a perfect place for growing coffee trees. Though lacking in modern education they are talented at growing things. By tending a 1 acres coffee farm the village families are able to properly care for their families. For those that are not familiar with the term fair trade it means they are paid a fair wage. How many coffee companies do that?

Giving Back

The great tasting coffee is not the only reason I picked Mai Thai Coffee. In fact I turned down another coffee company. Mai Thai grew out of  charity work. It is the perfect example of the problem is the solution. They wanted to help the Thailand people. Mai Thai works closely with the Abundant Life Foundation in Thailand.  Proceeds have helped over 1,000 orphaned and at risk children. Children are provided with the care they need. They will get an education, food and medical care.

I can fully support that work. I don’t think I have mentioned it before but I was a Buddhist in my teen years. I have a special place in my heart for Thailand. I will be only buying my coffee from Mai Thai from now on. Not only is it the best tasting but I get to support a cause I truly believe in.
