Keto Chow Review Finally A Keto Meal Replacement Shake

I love it when I find a cool product. Keto Chow Is definitely a cool product. For years I have looked for a meal replacement product that is keto friendly. Think Slim Fast only not full of sugar and crap. When your busy and on the road having a keto meal replacement would come in handy.

When I first saw the product soylent I thought “SOYLENT IS PEOPLE! IT”S PEOPLE!”. Hopefully, you get that joke. After looking over the ingredients in  soylent and the macro nutrient profile I had no interest. It is just more carb-laden junk. I could save money and get some  Atkins frozen meals or shakes. Although they are low carb they are not the best.

What Is Ketosis? How To Follow A ketogenic Diet Plan

I get asked what is ketosis pretty often. My girlfriend  asked me recently about it. I was on my way and out the door and knew I couldn’t answer it properly. What is keto and what is a ketogenic diet plan is both a simple and very complicated question. For such a fundamental part of the human physiology to still have so little known is mind blowing.

The ketosis definition from Wikipedia is

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used primarily to treat difficult-to-control (refractory) epilepsy in children. The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates.

Being in ketosis means that your body has switched from a glucose burning system to a fat burning one.

How To Get Into Ketosis

The super easy answer for you nonreading mongoloids is this Eat under 20 grams of carbs, Eat between .6 and 1 gram of Protein per Pound Of Bodyweight and Have the rest of your calories come from healthy Fats.

That is a very simplified version of What is ketosis. To be more specific you will need to use a macro calculator to determine your actual macros to aim for. Also, you will need to track the food you eat on a ketogenic diet plan.

Survival And Diabetes

This week Mike and I discuss Survival and diabetes. With Mike recently being diagnosed with Diabetes we tackle how it can affect your survival.  We begin by defining some terms. Like what exactly is diabetes. Everyone knows someone with it yet many have no idea what it is and how it affects you.

We go on to talk about some ways to manage it not just now but in a disaster scenario. Most of the strategies focus on type 2 diabetics. There is not much to be done for a type one insulin diabetic.

We hear from listener Matt on alternatives to toilet paper. Both short term and long term. Mike and I begin by talking about a funny book by a 16th century French writer. In it he list the many things you can wipe your ass with. The top thing to wipe with is a gooseneck. The whole thing is crude and hilarious.

If you want to be heard on air and have your question answered give me a call at (615) 657-9104 and leave me a voice mail. Yes the msg is funny and it will mess you up.

A while back the good folks at Tropical Traditions sent me a jar of coconut oil for review. I have used it a while now. I’m finally ready to do the review. I’ll also go over some reasons why coconut oil is a must have prep.

Fat’s are an often overlooked prep. Many store their beans, rice and wheat. All stores of carbohydrate. Easily storable. Protein has options too. Mountain house meat and beef jerky are options. For fats people usually grab some things of vegetable oil. They might get olive oil on the higher end. Neither are the best option.

Just storing calorie is not enough. You could store nothing but snickers and twinkies. Junk food is cheap and last a long time. Eating it though you will not last a long time. We need to make smarter choices in our food storage. Coconut oil is one easy way to do that.
