Leaving Corporate America

Leaving Corporate America For The Simple LIfe

Today I go to work for the last time. I’m Leaving Corporate America.  Year of hard work, preparation and some luck have paid off. Finally I will escape the daily grind and work for myself. No more missing life because I have to work. No more missing out on family events. Now I might have time to think about starting a family before I’m an old man. No more apartment life. Now more stealing neighbors. No more problems getting UPS deliveries. No more easy, sure life. I’m trading it all in for the hard life of a homesteader. I couldn’t be happier. Or more scared. That’s how I know it’s right. I’ll stop teasing you and tell you what’s going on.

Leaving Corporate America

I had a management job in the biggest of all retail stores. Some days I hated my job. Others were an adventure. I’m not going to bash it. I’m quite grateful for it. Parts of the job I loved. Helping customers solve problems and find what they need. I lived for that. Teaching and problem solving is my passion. I grew discontent though. Too much I didn’t care for. In the end though Im grateful for my time there. I made some friends. Had some fun. Paid off my debt and saved some money. For some it’s a great opportunity for advancement. It was great money for this drop out. I just have to do things my way. I have to do what I love.

Homestead

For years I tried to ignore fate and destiny. This year has opened my eyes. When you are walking on the right path doors open up to you. When the doors open you have to be ready to run through them. I came across an opportunity for land that was too good to pass up. It would mean I would have to quit my job though to work the land. Win win right? This is what I’ve wanted for so long. The land is not perfect. It will be a huge challenge. I will have to work hard. I will have some help though. I can see the potential in the land though. Finally a chance to grow food. Raise animals. Build productive systems. Live closer to nature more simply. It opens up a world of new projects.

Money

Let’s just say I’m taking a pay cut. Temporarily. Kinda. So with the homestead my expenses go down considerable. This will be decreased further by food production. I will have vegetables, Chickens for meat and eggs. Bee’s for honey. As many productive systems in place as I can get. The website does bring in money. I will be expanding it and building it and the Survivalpunk Army. More YouTube videos to come. I’m working on building lots of residual income streams. I’m looking into market gardening, csa’s etc. I’ve considered getting part time jobs as needed for expenses. Like I need more fruit trees time to do some quick work. Though I’m more looking into running workshops one the land. The Future is uncertain. The Future is scary. The Future is exciting. The Future is so bright I gotta wear shades!
