Contest Day Two: Card Sharp

Update: Contest Over

Day two of the National Preparedness Month Giveaways. Up today is a neat little knife from the awesome guys at Survivalgearbags.com. It’s called the CardSharp 2 from Ian Sinclair. The CardSharp is the size of a credit card to fit in your wallet. The card part is made from a stiff polypropylene with living hinges guaranteed for life. It features a unique safety lock that can’t be opened in your pocket or wallet. The Cardsharp transforms with three movements from Card to pocketknife. The blade is surgical stainless steel.

This was the first item I go in the mail and was EDC’ed by me for a few weeks. It fits really well in a wallet without adding bulk. I’m picky about adding too much to my wallet to keep weight down and for better posture while driving. No issues while carrying the cardsharp. I’ll admit I actually needed to read the instructions the first time I opened it. Once I knew what I was doing though opining it is second nature. In fact it’s so easy to open even a drunk girl can use it. Which leads us to the next point. Conversation starter. This thing is really cool and draws attention. I showed it off to everyone when I was carrying it. Everyone that got a chance to play with it wanted to get one. It’s very sleekly designed.

I almost wrote this off as usless novelty when I first heard of it. It seemed like another bad piece of gear that the market is flooded with. I decided to keep an open mind and judge on it’s performance. I was impressed by how small and lite it was. After the intial stumble on how to operate it I found opening it to be a snap. The blade was sharp from the package. Has a little nub to serve as a toil. The back has plastic jimping. Although it’s a bit small for my hand it’s still comfortable. For  small cutting and package opining it does well. It is great for backup food prep.

I will be adding a CardSharp on my list of item to get. I love the idea of a backup (backup) knife that is always in your wallet. I believe you can never have too many knives. For the weight, Size and cost of this I can’t see why not add one.

Now onto the rules.
