Contest Day 10:Comp-Tac Red Kydex Glock 19 Holster

I’m ending week two of the National Preparedness Month of giveaways with a BANG! Well at least a holder of something that goes bang anyway.  Comp-Tac donated a beautiful red paddle holster. The holster will fit Glock models 19/23/32.  This one is for right handed shooters. Since i can’t keep it, and trust me I do, I got it for righties.

Comp-Tac Holster Up

I’m not going to lie this thing is gorgeous. I completely fell in love with it when I opened it up. I had to try it on and wear it every chance I’ve had since getting it in. I’ve found it to be incredibly comfortable. I have been looking for  paddle style outside the waist holster for when I take firearms training classes and as a range holster. I expected this holster to be unable to be concealed. I was wrong on that. Having worn this for the past week or two I can tell you it is possible to conceal a weapon wearing this. You will not be wearing a form fitting shirt but with a long enough, baggy enough shirt you can do it. In winter a jacket would work really well. Although it is comfortable and possible I would say it is not optimal for that. This is a range, house and open carry holster is you open carry and with a holster this good looking I couldn’t fault you.

Comp-Tac Front

I tested the retention on this holster to see how secure it was. It comes with a allen key for adjusting the tension but straight from Comp-Tac it was perfect. The retention was tight enough to hold inverted and being vigorously shaken. It does not retain so much though as to prevent a smooth draw. While performing dry fire drills I had not issues drawing. Not only did I not have any issues I found this to be the easiest holster I’ve ever drawn from. The angle is holds the gun allows me to grab it easily with a firm grip and draw.  With some holsters I find it difficult to grab high enough and with a sure enough grip.
